The Catch uses the Lunu payment terminal to accept cryptocurrency payments

Through its partnership with Lunu, trendy Berlin restaurant The Catch has taken an innovative step with real added value.

Savour the delights of Japanese cuisine, then pay with crypto: this is now a possibility at fashionable Berlin restaurant The Catch. The Izakaya-style restaurant in Charlottenburg uses the Lunu payment system, allowing customers to pay in bitcoin and other digital currencies. The move is in keeping with the innovative and cosmopolitan identity of the restaurant, which has been a feature of Berlin’s gastronomy scene since 2019. The menu offers modern interpretations of classic Japanese dishes, now with state-of-the-art payment options.

The Catch uses the Lunu payment terminal. For customers, the process is as simple as paying with a debit or credit card. Diners tell the restaurant that they would like to pay with cryptocurrency, before opening a crypto wallet on their smartphone and scanning a QR code using the Lunu payment terminal. There are no added transaction fees, and the most favourable cryptocurrency exchange rates are offered. Catch employees enter the price in euros into the terminal, and the value in the chosen cryptocurrency is displayed immediately. Payments take a few seconds to process. The Lunu payment terminal is compatible with all major crypto wallets.

“We are delighted to be able to offer this convenient and innovative payment method to our customers,” said Alexander Slobin, managing director at The Catch. “Digital currencies are growing ever more relevant in urban communities and modern society. This is why it feels natural for a metropolitan restaurant like ours to take this kind of leap into the future.”

As for commissions paid by the restaurant, they are lower than those charged by other payment terminal services, which average at around 1.5% to 3% of the total cost. Furthermore, even when customers make payments in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, the system credits the restaurant in its country’s fiat currency.

This is one of the ways in which Lunu solutions bring added value to clients, all with simple implementation and zero risk of cryptocurrency volatility.
