The SEC’s Predictable Stance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In a recent development, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has taken a stance against Coinbase, opposing the company’s motion to dismiss the case filed against it. On October 3rd, the SEC made its move, which, according to Paul Grewal, Coinbase’s chief legal officer, was more of the “same old same old.” This case stems from the SEC’s allegations in June, accusing Coinbase of selling unregistered securities and offering an unregistered staking service. Grewal, however, has countered these claims, stating that crypto assets have not been legally recognized as securities by Congress. He further criticized the SEC for making broad claims without any legal citation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
