About

Founded in Berlin in 2018, Lunu is the creation of Artem Shaginyan and Petr Vishnyakov, two successful tech entrepreneurs who met in 2018 at an avant-garde art exhibition in one of Berlin’s industrial hangars. When they found they shared an interest in the potential of blockchain technology, they decided to explore that industry to identify the most promising areas for business development. Their partnership in Lunu combines Vishnyakov’s expertise in the new digital economy and cryptocurrencies with Shaginyan’s background as a designer and serial entrepreneur in e-commerce.

Technology

The Lunu System combines Lunu Terminal and Lunu Widget with a processing service that conducts instant auctions through the proprietary Lunu Arbitrage System. This system, based on a pool of independent arbitrageurs, assign the market price for the crypto-to-fiat exchange, while systems oracles monitor and verify the transactions in third-party blockchains.

The processing service
The system that coordinates and connects the customer, the arbitrageur, the exchange, and the retailer in a two-part exchange process: from cryptos to fiat money

The Customer
Uses his/her cryptocurrencies to purchase goods or services in-store or online from a retailer using the mobile Lunu Terminal or Widget

The Retailer
Owns the point of sale equipped with the mobile Lunu Terminal (and/or an e-commerce site equipped with the Lunu Widget) which allows him/her to accept cryptocurrency conveniently, readily convert it to fiat money, and transfer those funds to a retail bank account

The Arbitrageur
Exchanges the customer’s cryptocurrency to fiat money, buying and selling on third-party external exchanges to secure the best offer for the customer. The arbitrageur makes his money on the buy-sell price differential

The Oracles
The service monitoring the blockchain corresponding to the cryptocurrency in which the exchange transaction has been made and then communicates when the transaction is confirmed

Scalable
Arbitrageurs are independent actors, creating a pool of liquidity which is easy to scale to support the Lunu system. In Lunu phase 1 the system can process 2000 transactions per second and can be increased exponentially in the future.

Secure
Information submitted to the network via the Lunu Terminal is protected by digital signatures, and transactions are tracked by oracles in the blockchain.

Decentralized
Lunu does not impose its own token or cryptocurrency as a means of intermediary exchange, nor does it exert influence over the exchange rate. Third party developers can use an open protocol provided by Lunu to integrate their currencies into the system.

Fast
The speed of the transaction is limited only by the cryptocurrency architecture. For example, a transaction on the Bitcoin Lightning Network will take 3-seconds or less.

Easy-to-Use
While the Lunu system is sophisticated, state-of-the art technology, the entire two-step exchange process — converting cryptos to fiat money, involving four parties (customer, arbitrageur, exchange and retailer) — is seamless and takes just a few seconds.

Multi-Functional
The Lunu Terminal in-store and the Lunu Widget online accept a potentially unlimited number of cryptocurrencies as well as Visa, Mastercard, and NFC contactless payments such as Apple Pay, etc.
